Korean Forehead Lift – A Case of a Young Woman with Hidden Double Eyelids
Hello. This is Face Plastic Surgery Clinic in Daejeon.
Today, I would like to present the case of a young woman in her 20s who struggled with drooping upper eyelids that obscured her double eyelid line. She had long experienced discomfort due to weak eyelid-opening muscles, making her eyes appear tired and heavy.
After exploring various surgical options such as traditional double eyelid procedures and ptosis correction, she decided to visit us for consultation regarding a Korean forehead lift, seeking a more comprehensive approach to her concerns.
This procedure involves lifting the forehead and glabellar soft tissues using an endoscopic technique. Through 3 to 5 small incisions made within the scalp, the underlying tissues are carefully dissected and repositioned upward. Because the incisions are hidden in the hairline and performed under endoscopic guidance, the surgery can be done with precision and minimal external scarring.
In cases where the forehead has descended and caused the eyebrows to droop, as in this patient’s situation, a simple eye-focused procedure is often not sufficient. Her brow had descended significantly, causing the skin above her eyelid to hang down and partially cover her eyes.
We recommended a Korean forehead lift using an endoscopic approach, which would allow us to elevate the brow and restore balance to her upper face. During preoperative planning, we assessed the curvature of her forehead, skin thickness, muscle tension, and the vertical and lateral brow position to determine the appropriate surgical range.
The operation lasted approximately 1 hour and was performed under twilight sedation. Since the incisions are located within the scalp, they are not visible externally. Stitches were removed between 8 to 10 days post-op, and follow-up care was completed in just one or two visits.
Following surgery, the tension in her forehead was evenly redistributed, and her brows were repositioned to a more youthful and balanced height. As a result, the skin no longer obscured her double eyelids, and she reported that her eyes felt lighter and more open.
Many patients mistakenly believe they need double eyelid surgery when in fact the root of the problem lies in the descent of the forehead and brows. In these cases, a Korean forehead lift may offer a more appropriate solution.
This procedure is especially suitable for:
- Patients with deep forehead or glabellar wrinkles
- Those experiencing drooping of the brows and upper eyelids
- Eyes that appear smaller due to repetitive eyelid hooding
- An overall tired or aged appearance caused by downward brow positioning
In this case, the patient’s eyelids became noticeably more visible, her forehead lines softened, and her overall facial impression brightened. Most importantly, she mentioned that the tension and fatigue around her eyes had significantly reduced, which improved her daily comfort.
For younger individuals like this patient, a Korean forehead lift serves not only as an aesthetic solution but also as a functional enhancement. By elevating the brows and relieving the burden on the eyelid-opening muscles, patients can achieve a more alert and refreshed appearance without altering their natural expressions. All surgical procedures carry the risk of swelling, bruising, and other side effects.
