Daejeon Male Rhinoplasty Case Study for a Sharper, More Defined Look

Today we’d like to introduce a case of Korean rhinoplasty performed on a young male patient who visited our clinic with concerns about his nose's round and soft appearance, particularly from the side profile. He expressed a strong desire for a more defined and sharper nasal contour to enhance his overall impression.

This patient’s Korean rhinoplasty involved both ear cartilage grafting and silicone implant insertion. Before proceeding with the operation, we carefully assessed the patient’s nasal structure, including skin thickness, the amount of subcutaneous fat, and the shape and alignment of the lower lateral cartilage. This individualized analysis allowed us to design a surgical plan that provided definition while maintaining a natural, masculine aesthetic.

 

 

Male patients often require a different surgical approach than females, primarily due to thicker skin and more developed soft tissues. In Korean rhinoplasty for men, the goal is not simply to elevate the bridge but to create a stronger, structured appearance that complements the facial framework. Preserving masculine features while refining the contour is essential in achieving satisfying results.

In this specific case, the surgical plan included harvesting auricular cartilage to sculpt the nasal tip and inserting a silicone implant to heighten and straighten the bridge. We also reduced excess fatty tissue and restructured the alar cartilages, which were naturally wide and flared, to create a narrower and more defined tip.

Korean rhinoplasty can address a range of anatomical issues that result in a broad or blunt-looking nose. These may include excessive subcutaneous tissue, low nasal bridge height, or cartilages that spread outward. This patient exhibited several of these characteristics, making a tailored and accurate approach essential.

 

 

The operation lasted approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and was performed under partial or twilight sedation. Stitches were typically removed within 5 to 10 days. While recovery times vary by individual, most patients resume normal activities after about a week. Swelling and bruising are common in the early recovery period and generally subside with time.

 

 

For this patient’s procedure, ear cartilage and silicone were selected as the most suitable materials. In other cases of Korean rhinoplasty, we may use septal cartilage, rib cartilage, or PCL mesh implants, depending on the patient’s nasal anatomy and desired changes. Material selection always prioritizes both safety and aesthetics.

After surgery, the patient showed significant improvement in both front and side views. The previously round nasal tip was reshaped into a sharper, more structured point, enhancing the masculine definition of his face.
