Hello. This is Face Plastic Surgery Clinic in Daejeon.
Among the concerns frequently expressed by young male patients, a prominent issue is the facial imbalance caused by a protruding mouth and an underdeveloped chin.
Today, we would like to share a case involving a man in his twenties who visited our clinic to address these specific concerns.
BEFORE
This patient presented with a profile in which the upper lip area appeared protruded and the chin seemed relatively recessed. Such a structure can result in a less defined jawline and cause disharmony in the overall facial silhouette. He explained that the lack of projection in his chin made his face appear rounder and less structured, which had been a source of long-standing dissatisfaction.
After careful consultation and facial analysis, a combined surgical approach involving protruding mouth correction and genioplasty (chin surgery) was planned. In cases like this, it's important to examine not only the teeth and jaw alignment but also the soft tissue volume and overall facial balance.
At our clinic, we frequently see patients with similar complaints, and we approach each case by considering both function and aesthetics. In the field of Korean plastic surgery, the integration of dental and facial bone structure correction is one of the defining features that distinguishes treatment quality.
The surgery was performed under general anesthesia. The protruding mouth correction involved repositioning the upper and lower jaws to reduce the protrusion of the lips and improve occlusion. At the same time, chin advancement was performed to bring the chin into better harmony with the newly positioned mid-face.
BEFORE & AFTER
During the recovery period, the patient experienced expected postoperative swelling and mild discomfort during mastication, which gradually subsided. After a sufficient healing period, both the protrusion of the upper lip and the retrusion of the chin were visibly improved.
From the frontal view, his facial contour became more defined, and the lower face gained a more balanced appearance. From the side, the transition from the lips to the chin showed a smoother and more natural line. He reported that these changes had a positive impact on his overall self-image.
Cases like this are common in Korean plastic surgery, where precise assessment and customized planning are key. Especially when combining jaw and chin procedures, coordination between surgical technique and anatomical understanding becomes critical.
In this case, the patient did not require orthodontic treatment prior to surgery, but each individual’s needs vary. For those considering similar procedures, thorough evaluation and professional guidance are essential.
This case demonstrates how surgical intervention can bring facial proportions into greater harmony, which in turn supports improved confidence in daily life.
Korean plastic surgery continues to develop sophisticated approaches that combine structural and aesthetic perspectives. Our clinic strives to deliver results that reflect the individuality and needs of each patient without overgeneralization.
All surgeries may result in swelling, bruising, and other side effects.
